We are thrilled to invite you to a professional development experience unlike any other. At The People’s Gathering, we break the mold of traditional conferences by creating a space where honest and transformative conversations about race can flourish.

Our unique “Race Dialogue Room” concept is what sets us apart. Inspired by the racial categories on the U.S. Census, these rooms provide a structured and supportive environment where participants can explore and discuss their racial experiences, perspectives, and challenges. We aim to deepen understanding, foster empathy, and build actionable strategies toward achieving racial equity by forming conversation groups around specific racial categories.

Guided by the mantra, “put your oxygen mask on first before you can help others,” The People’s Gathering is designed to empower you to reflect, learn, and act.

How It Works:

Registration and Survey: Upon registering for the conference, participants will complete a survey to provide insight into their racial identity. This information helps us assign participants to appropriate Race Dialogue Rooms.
Dialogue Room Assignment: Based on survey responses, participants will be assigned to a Race Dialogue Room that aligns with their racial category. This targeted approach allows for tailored discussions that address the unique experiences and concerns of each group.
Workshop Activities: In each Race Dialogue Room, participants will engage in guided discussions and activities designed to:
- Reflect on personal experiences and collective histories.
- Examine systemic issues and barriers related to race.
- Develop strategies for effective communication and collaboration across racial lines.
Facilitated Discussions: Each room will be led by a team of experienced facilitators who also “check the box” for that particular room and will guide conversations, encourage participation, and ensure a respectful and productive environment.

Expected Outcomes:

Enhanced self-awareness and understanding of one’s own racial identity and its impact.
Increased empathy and insight into the experiences of others within the same racial category.
Practical strategies for addressing racial issues and promoting equity within personal and professional spheres.
