Alice Fong is the Senior Consultant and Chief Executive Officer at the Center for Ethical Leadership. Her father, Sam Fong, at twelve years old, immigrated to North America in 1948. His teachers would turn and walk away when they saw him coming. He experienced racism, othering, and exclusion. Sam decided to lead with his heart. He knew Alice would have similar experiences, so he modeled and prepared her with foundational leadership skills that she uses to this day.
Alice shows up with this heart centered, values-based leadership approach in all parts of her life. In her career, she has restored, strengthened, and built teams across departments, partnerships, and coalitions to become more effective and have fun! ☺ Her personal call to action is to bring people together into a connected and relational community. Since 2010, Alice’s peers recognize her as a thought leader in civic engagement and organizational development.
Alice believes everyone has gifts to contribute to our community and since 1996, she has been identifying people to step up to lead. She encourages, coaches, and prepares them to do just that! At the Center for Ethical Leadership, she has called on over 1,100 people to act and lead in service of the common good.
Alice holds a master’s degree in management from Troy University, a bachelor’s in exercise science from the University of Puget Sound, and a human resource management certificate from Lake Washington Institute of Technology.
Two of Alice’s favorite quotes to live by are:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“Unity has never meant uniformity.” – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
